Works held in the permanent collections of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; the New York Public Library; and other public institutions.

In 2025–2026, Mary Mattingly's work entered the permanent collections of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and the New York Public Library — institutions whose holdings reflect the broader cultural record. "Magnetic Field" (2023) is currently on view at the MFA Boston as part of "Framing Nature: Gardens and Imagination" (March 15 – June 28, 2026), an exhibition drawn entirely from the museum's collection. The acquisition affirms the place of Mattingly's ecological and photographic practice within the canon of contemporary American art.

Works by Mary Mattingly have been acquired by the New York Public Library, joining a collection that documents American visual culture. Confirm which works and the relevant division (the NYPL's Wallach Division houses the Photography Collection).
