Last Light First Light On the shortest day of the year, I make a double exposure: last light at dusk, first light at dawn. It is a yearly ritual. I seek flat horizons, return to familiar sites, and let two edges of the day share one frame. The cross pattern comes from the overlap, with the second exposure rotated 90 degrees, documenting the Earth’s turning. Atmosphere enters the image too: smoke, water, salts, hazes, held up to the sun.
