Last Light/First Light, 2011 | Limited Edition Photograph
Last Light/First Light, 2011 | Limited Edition Photograph
This limited edition abstract photograph is evidence of my dedication to slowing time and capturing the last and first light on the year's shortest day. I search for locations that embody a seamless horizon extending from east to west. I observe as the light inches toward its vanishing point, to bear witness to its return in the morning.
The cross originates from the reuse of a 2 1/4 film roll, initially exposed at dusk and then revisited at dawn—a double exposure. The intentional 90-degree rotation of the cross serves as a symbolic reflection of our planet's own rotation, synchronized with the movements of the earth around the sun.
This limited edition photograph is signed and framed elegantly in white wood. As a contemporary art or photography collector, owning this print connects you to a timeless visual narrative. You become a custodian of a story that transcends time.
"Last Light/First Light, 2011" contributes to fundraising efforts expanding access to natural spaces in New York City.
