I created "The Weight and the Offering," a soft sculpture, by gathering clothing I discovered along the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage trail. As I embarked on my journey, I collected these items, carrying them with me for days. Later, I carefully stored them for years to use them for a textile sculpture in the future. I bundled these garments to craft a unique sculpture, securing the fabric with red and olive green Paracord.
This hands-on process of collecting trailside clothing deepened my connection to the moment, making it more profound.
The resulting textile sculpture invites contemplation and weaves a narrative about the essence of pilgrimages. It serves as a poignant reminder that even everyday objects hold entire worlds within them, emphasizing the significance of every little thing.
